I am in awe of the grace of the Lord demonstrated week in and week out by your Faith Promise Missions giving. So many of you join Jana and me in taking seriously the Great Commission and the commitment we have made to send and support missionaries around the world.

Our “Essential” Missions Conference theme is taken from Acts 4:12: “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.”

It is my prayer that the Lord will focus our minds and hearts beyond the walls of our church, beyond our own borders to see through the eyes of Jesus the lost and dying men, women, boys and girls all over this world. It is ESSENTIAL that we understand that without Jesus, they will die and go to hell. It is ESSENTIAL that we recognize that their only hope is the Gospel. It is ESSENTIAL that missionaries take this all-important message to the people to whom God has called them. It is ESSENTIAL that we see God’s grace in our lives as we consider our personal response to the untold millions who remain untouched by the saving Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.

We distributed our Essential Missions magazine on Sunday. Take a few minutes to read through it. Pray for the missionaries and speakers. Use it throughout the year to pray for the missionaries supported by our church family. If you did not receive a copy last week, pick one up this week.  If you are unable to attend, call the church office and we will make sure to get one to you.

The Gospel is ESSENTIAL as we take the saving knowledge of Christ to our own community, and God blesses those efforts in a wonderful way. We have seen hundreds of people come to know Christ through the efforts of our GROW outreach program and other ministries.

Likewise, CSBC has a long history of supporting and sending missionaries to take the Gospel around the world. The commission left to us by the Lord Jesus says, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature,” (Mark 16:15). It is ESSENTIAL that we take this time as a church family to focus on our responsibility to lost souls around the world.

Ask God to help you personally to consider what is ESSENTIAL in light of eternity in response to others around the world. Pray about what the Lord would have you do to reach the world. Will you go as a missionary? If that is not your calling, then you can send. I’m excited to see what the Lord would do in and through our church family for missions this year.
