Welcome to CSBC

Welcome to Cherry Street Baptist Church. We are blessed to be in our 65th year of ministry in Springfield. We are a church with a great history of reaching people with the Gospel, teaching them to love and serve Him, training and sending many out to replicate the process across the country and around the world. We believe God has us here to make a difference in the lives of people here and around the world! If you are a guest with us, we are honored by your presence. CSBC family, I’m glad you are here as well. Let’s show our guests a warm welcome! If you are a guest with us, please let us know you are here by filling out our digital guest card. We pray that God will bless you this weekend!

Bigger Than The Super Bowl

Sunday is “Football” Sunday” and many of us are in our Chiefs gear, rooting for them in the big game. While we are excited about the game, there is a far greater event coming in the future. The Bible says in Hebrews 9:27 “And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment.” Today we want everyone ready to meet the Lord! We are moving our Family service back to 4:15 Sunday evening for a tailgate party in the Gillming Center before the Super Bowl kickoff. Bring your favorite tailgate snacks to share and join us for food, fun and fellowship! We’re also holding a “Chili Cookoff” fundraiser for our summer missions trips – so bring your best recipe and compete for the prize! Most importantly, bring a friend who needs to know Jesus and we will be sure to share the good news with them. Come on out for a great time Sunday afternoon.

Freedom Sunday Next Week February 18

In 2015, after 28 years as a pastor in Rolla, Darren Myers and his wife, Tammy and son, Daniel, established Freedom Focus and began traveling. Through preaching, singing, multimedia presentations and outdoor rallies, Darren and his family have been presenting truth to preserve freedom in America. The Myers family has produced the Freedom Journey Show in Branson since 2017. We are excited to have Darren preaching for us on this Presidents’ Day weekend.

Foundations of the Christian Life Begins Wednesday

If you have never had a basic, first steps class about what it means to be a Christian and how to live a life of faith, our First Step “Foundations of the Christian Life,” is for you. This class will begin this Wednesday evening in the Staff Conference Room in the north office hallway.

Celebrations from Our Business Meeting

We are so thankful for the report shared on Wednesday evening! We rejoiced over the projects accomplished last year, including our attendance averages that were up for every service, and the faithful giving of our church family, that included nearly $450,000 given to missions. Most importantly we celebrated those who were saved, baptized and united with our church family last year! We also elected the following officers to serve for the next year: Deacons: James Bosler, Jim Evans, Mike Hamski, John Musick, Derek Podurgiel; Junior Deacon: Jarrett Young; Trustees: Matt Brown, Dennis McMurphy, Mike Wiseley; Treasurer: Adam Pardue; Assistant Treasurer: Tom Updegraff; Church Clerk: Cindy Finney.

Debt Free By 65th Anniversary Celebration

One of the blessings of our Business Meeting was the unanimous vote we took to trust God to help us pay off our “Million Dollar Debt” by our 65th Anniversary Celebration in July. Our debt, which was at $993,000 in 2008 has been paid down to $103,000. We are already scheduled to pay $36,000 from our budget by that time, leaving us just $67,000 to pay it off! We will be receiving pledges for one time, weekly or monthly gifts in a few weeks, and a special offering on Sunday, March 3. Please pray about what God will lead you to do.
